We’re counting down to the First Annual Proud Hamilton Hunt fundraiser on July 24, 2010!

The Hunt is an urban adventure that challenges the knowledge that Hamiltonians have for their city, where teams of two solve clues about Hamilton, photograph themselves at the clue locations, and reach the finish line. The first place team will win a pair of iPads. Chances of winning are at most 1 in 50 – those are great odds!

This event does need a minimum number of participants before it can take place, so choose your partner and be sure to register for the event BY Wednesday, July 21!

Calling all Hamiltonians! t’WestofTO is happy to announce the First Annual Proud Hamilton Hunt fundraiser on July 24, 2010!

The fundraiser is an urban adventure that challenges the knowledge Hamiltonians have for their city. It consists of teams of two who solve clues about Hamilton, photograph themselves at the clue locations, and reach the finish line for a chance to win prizes provided by Hamilton businesses. It’s similar to the Amazing Race but without the challenges at each location. The first place team will receive two iPads that were generously donated by members of the Hamilton business community.

Saturday, July 24, 2010
Registration starts at 11:00am, the Hunt starts at noon, and prizes will be presented at 4 p.m.

All proceeds will be donated to the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s Art Without Barriers Summer Camp. The camp program invites principals and/or teachers from high-needs neighbourhood schools to identify children who would most benefit from attending this special camp; the camp includes breakfast, lunch and snacks, a week of art-making with artist-educators, and a kit of art-making supplies to use at home.

TwestofTO presents the first-annual PROUD Hamilton Hunt!

At patio Friday, I was approached by @jwestera to work on a joint project to support the Proud Hamilton campaign. For those of you who aren’t aware, the PH campaign is a grassroots initiative designed to help bring jobs to Hamilton. This initiative was started by the JPC who learned from a study that companies are less likely to invest in a city that has a poorer reflection on themselves than other cities do. In other words, if we can’t look at ourselves and be proud, how can we expect others to invest their businesses in our city? We agreed.

That is why we are happy to present TwestofTO’s first annual Proud Hamilton Hunt. The Proud Hamilton Hunt is an urban adventure where teams of two can solve clues about Hamilton, photograph themselves at the clue locations, and reach the finish line for a chance to win prizes provided by Hamilton businesses. And here’s the best part – the winning team will walk away with TWO brand new iPads! The event will end at a local eatery (TBD) where participants can enjoy some free food (courteous of our sponsors) and drinks.

The PHH starts at noon (registration opens at 11a.m.) on Saturday, July 24, in downtown Hamilton (specific location is pending permit) and ends at 4p.m. with the prize ceremony taking place around 4:30p.m. There is a limit of two people per team ($20 per team) so grab your best bud or someone who really knows their Hamilton stuff and sign up here. Space is limited, so I suggest signing up early before all the teams are filled.

We are pleased to announce the coming launch of IMHO, an ethical consumer review site where bloggers creatively and candidly review products or services that compliment the content of their blogs, in whatever form of media they choose and with no marketing persuasion from advertisers.

Announced at SXSW, we are making waves in the industry and have already received a great deal of sign ups both from brands and bloggers. Our focus will be on matching our bloggers up with the opportunities that best compliment their content. Bloggers get the opportunity to review cool products and services, receive an increase in traffic, and become respected thought leaders. Brands receive insightful genuine feedback, that helps them evolve their products and build deeper relationships with their customers.

We got tired of looking around at unethical paid blogging services cheapening the blogosphere with artificial brand mentions. We are bloggers ourselves and like to keep things real. People respect and trust other peoples opinions before they trust an ad or a forced positive brand mention It isn’t hard to spot a fake. And we don’t like fake. We want IMHO to be the leading authority on consumer reviews and be synonymous with trust. TwestofTO Hamilton Update: Sponsors, Round Table Discussions & More

TwestofTO Hamilton is only a week away so we wanted to give you some information about the event and what to expect.

Although doors officially open at 6:30pm we encourage you to come earlier and have you dinner at The Pheasant Plucker. They have a great menu and a great atmosphere and more than a dozen draught beers on tap. Merlene and some of the TwestofTO staff will be on site at 5pm to have their own dinner and get set up so feel free to say hello.

After two great events in Burlington and another great event in Mississauga we’re finally bringing our event to Hamilton and are amazed at the response. We’ve maxed out our space with 90 tickets gone and we currently have over a dozen on the waiting list.

While we do hope that each and every one of you can make it to our TwestofTO event on April 8th, if for some reason you can’t make it after all please let us know at twitter.com/TwestofTO or merlene@TwestofTO.org so we can pass your ticket along to someone on the waiting list.

If you want to start to “meet” some of the folks coming to TwestofTO Hamilton – we’ve set up a follow list on twitter for registered attendees to make it easier to find each other.

Round Table Discussions

One of the hallmarks of our TwestofTO events has been great conversation – both at the events themselves and on twitter leading up to the events. We’d considered bringing in speakers and having presentations but there are plenty of events that do that and frankly, that’s someone talking at you, not a conversation.

Our TwestofTO Round Table Discussions are about sharing ideas on current topics at a table with 8 to 12 others. A way to network with some new people, share ideas, learn and laugh. We have 5 amazing and smart people helping out as table leaders who will help get the discussions going: @wmacphail, @anthonymarco, @kitestring, @juliecole, and @optimom.

Want to help us choose our Round Table Discussion topics?
We’ve set up a survey – vote for the topics listed or suggest your own.

The discussion tables are from 7pm sharp until 8:30pm – 15 mins per topic – and we’re expecting some great conversation with each. If you haven’t already voted for what topics you’d like to discuss at the tables head over to our survey and vote!

Unfortunately due to some space limitations we have, not everyone will be able to participate in the discussion tables (we’re limited to 50) but we will have an area for general networking and socializing for the rest.

At 8:30 we’ll break for some announcements, some prizes and some munchies and the rest of the evening will be general networking and socializing.

We’re really looking forward to seeing you all on April 8th. Expect some further announcements over the week as we wind up for TwestofTO Hamilton.
